We are back again for Vietnamese food after so long... But menu has changed... My favourite rice vermicelli  with grilled lemongrass chicken is gone......

No more lemongrass in the menu

So I chose something close.. BUN THIT NUONG seasoned grill pork chop with vermicelli @ $8

lots of veg and chopped peanuts... Adding the sauce is a must! abit of sweet, sourry, spicy.. more of spicy today

HU TIEU XAO HAISAN (stir fry seafood and pork tapioca noodle and vegetables) @ $8.50

Portion is small but it's quite special... Taste quite good but slightly more salty

Noodle is very chewy and nice

Portion is not very large but value for money

No GST or service charge

Shop is rather small with open space sitting.. and they had expanded to another shop space... Yes more sitting space available 😁

Hub's little craving for western food.. so we are here back in Kovan branch... Remember having the same at punggol waterway point and it's not as nice

Soft and tender chicken.. double the chicken, feels too much to eat.. served with 2 sides.. here we've got hot veggies and fries

Served hot and crispy... See the smoke as you cut

Portion is big too! Served with 2 sides.. here we've got fries and coleslaw

Worth trying.. nice food but need to wait for quite awhile though it's not fully packed

I must say the food at Kovan branch is much better than the one at Punggol!

had a brochure from door step.. newly renovated food court at hougang mall having promo for quite a few stalls

It's so crowded... Even when it's alr 145pm

The whole place is so greeny... Seems like a trend now... Restaurants also have this greeny theme

Buy 1 Hokkaido miso ramen @ $12.80 and get a tonkutsu ramen for free.. 

Or don options available too

Our impression of miso is not as nice as tonkutsu but turns out the miso is good!!!

So much more ingredients.. char siew, bamboo shoots, cabbage, minced meat

Soup is not just miso only but seems like pork broth

Tonkutsu is just 2 piece of char siew.. taste is quite normal.. nothing special

crave for pizza again.... And there we are at new pizza place

They have pizzas, pasta, chicken, sandwich, cakes as dessert and even waffle ice cream

The whole stretch of seats are available though it looks like it belongs to another shop but under the same roof

Like the crust.. it's crispy and abit chewy.. but don't leave it for too long cos it harden when we were having our last piece

Chicken is a bit hard but overall is ok

Chicken is well roasted and tender

Mashed potato feels unseasoned, unlike those we usually eat.. it's quite nice!

Nicely steamed, can really eat the yam pieces inside and i like the loads of fried onion toppings

Not as nice as expected... Not hot, and it's quite hard.. not much filling too, seems like only rice

Skin abit thick and chewy, at least not soggy

Very crispy crust, this is nice! Potato with indian spices curry filling

But quite filling after eating half of it

Thick coffee ☕, strong coffee smell

Nice and crispy texture, thin bread and yam at the inside.. like it not sweet and the crispiness of the "skin"

Food here are not heavy taste, feels very natural and at room temperature where you can eat immediately, do prefer it to be hotter

An unique dining experience, by the pool side.. very cooling and you are actually not very close to the next table like most restaurant do

But have to be planned on non rainy days

Grills are available from 4pm, only dons in the afternoon

Do not have the fishy smell, nicely seasoned with homemade unagi sauce served with wasabi

The wasabi is not as "hot" as it normally is

There's salted or garlic butter options available.. we chose garlic butter

large and fresh prawns, perfectly grilled

1 piece option available @ $6.50++ but 1 is never enough!

Teriyaki salmon don @ $15++

It's unexpectedly small bowl of Japanese rice 🍚 topped with salmon and teriyaki sauce

This is quite normal... Nothing really special compared to other Japanese restaurant

Salmon belly w yakitori sauce @ $14++

There's also salted option available.. but we chose this

The fats of the belly are not present on all of them... Feels like some are not belly but close to belly.. suitable for my mum.. hehe she always complain belly is too oily!

Truffle fries @ $12++

It's so good!! Hot and crispy and the truffle is so strong!! Yes so good that we ordered another serving

Chicken shoyu pasta @ $16++

Always have shoyu in ramen but in pasta, this is the first time... 

Something special but it's kind of a mismatch.. haha still feels tt shoyu goes better with ramen but this is something different.. should give it a try at least once

Kurobuta pork belly w homemade teriyaki sauce @ $12++

This was recommended by the staff... And so we gave it a try! It's really good!!!! Soft and tender.. and the important thing is it does not have the meat smell 👍🏼👍🏼 definitely must try!

Sweet potato @ $6++

This is also recommended by the staff, sweet potatoes are imported from a place in Japan that only they serves.. yup, said to have an agreement from the farmer that can sell to Guriru in Singapore.. so only get to eat it here when you're in Singapore. It's also not seasonal, so you don't get to eat it all year round!

I'm not a sweet potato person and I like it!

Looks like the crepe cake that can be found at Charterise but this better! Thick layers of cream, cold and it's so nice!

Sesame cream stuffed mochi @ $9++

Looks small and doesn't look appealing but it's good! So much better than we expected it to be.. also cold dessert, chewy mochi coated with sesame and the thick cream at the inside.. so good that we ordered for takeaway

Chocolate cream stuffed mochi @ $9++

Since we're ordering the sesame one, also gotten the chocolate cream one... It's coated with tiramisu powder and the filling inside is chocolate, not as creamy as sesame.. sesame is more special

The salmon is nice! Very well seasoned and the skin is so nice too! Slightly more salty, but it won't be nice if it's not

Comes with brown sauce mixed with black pepper

Mashed potato is abit butter and not too wet, nice!

Hawaiian pizza 🍕 @ $23++

12inch and it's big!

Super thin crust, and feel it's under toasted.. both the crust and the ingredients

These are too much for 2... We only had a slice of pizza each and finished the rest 

Overall, feels abit overpriced.. and the food is so so... Only the salmon is nice but at a high cost

Got quite a few recommendations for the claypot rice so here we are.. it's by a chef previously from Jumbo Group... So the seafood is a must try

A thumbs up for no msg!!! Yes the soup is so "seafoody" feels like steamboat soup

I prefer this... Like the "charcoaled" rice and the taste is good! Not too salty..

Portion is not very big, just nice for me.. there's a 2 pax portion too.. same pot size but will filled full

Salmon skin is crispy, and salmon seems to be unseasoned.. tt explains the sauce

The rice is special! Kind of butter ride but not like the typical butter rice and there's mushroom! Egg is not very cooked, unlike those in food court

The pasta today is not as good as the previous.. today's seems to be slightly more cooked but still good!

Don't look oily but the taste is there 👍🏼

5 mid wings, the skin are sooo crispy and sooo nice, very well seasoned but thirsty an hr or two later... Got the msg feel... So disappointed though so nice

Will definitely come back for more pastas! For mid wings, is it worth the "unhealthy msg"? 🤔

Soya bean milk @ $1.80 is normal, nothing special

Also had this carrot cake w egg @ $4.. this is very different from the normal carrot cake... Feels like those prawn/peanut pancake skin, stuffed with turnips and coated with a layer of fried egg at the top.. I shall give this a new name 'turnip pancake'

The skin is crispy but also very oily.. don't really like this.. prefer the traditional carrot cake

A stall in a small coffee shop with a few other food stalls

Rosti is abit small and not crispy.. seems undercooked

Located at a HDB shop house opposite NYP

Very accessable via bicycle, PCN connecting amk or yck all the way to punggol

The baguette is quite big, very crispy sandwiching generous amount of meat and veggies (carrots 🥕, spring onions, coriander leaf), special sauce

And there's chilli with seeds! Be sure to take out cos it's spicy

It's abit too salty but still nice, it's soft and boneless

Roasted pork @ $9.90

Feels like eating roasted pork rice without rice.. 😅 but my hub likes it! Not so for me... Don't like the thick layer of fats

Skin is crispy, soft and boneless

The baguette is so nice, think I can just have the baguette by itself

First time I see Korean porridge so we tried

Shredded chicken porridge @ $5.80

Japanese rice with a mix of brown rice.. taste is nice, hot hot and the "creamy" porridge

Bibimbap @ $6

Feels like it's rice then topped with ingredients... Not hot... Not as I expected

Enough sauce to cover the whole bowl of rice and it's not very spicy

Should be able to get better ones easily

Surprising, the food is really nice, especially the pasta

It's for a pax portion.. super super thin crust... Really like no "bread" kind... Feels like eating biscuit 😅

After trying the prawn aglio olio, we ordered another pasta but this is not as nice... It's cream based, and maybe is the type of pasta, fusili.. feels overcooked

It's a very loud place cos of the pubs opposite

Food is nice, and the shop is very nicely decorated

Most of the items on the menu looks good

We are comparing with Little Vietnam where we always go for Viet food.... The portion here is much lesser with a bigger price tag

Bun Cha Hanoi Bun @ $12.80++

Like the sauce, but don't like the pork.. feel that got the meat smell.. hub likes it though

Vermicelli with grilled pork and crispy spring roll @ $11.80++

Portion is small... Especially the meat and veg, it's like half.. but there's a spring roll..

The grill is not as strong but still quite nice

Overall still prefer Little Vietnam.. bigger portion and better price too food wise, prefer Little Vietnam too 🤭

But my hub likes this... Yes he think that the meat here is better though.. but when price comes to the pic, Little Vietnam still gets the vote.. not really tt good that it's worth the extra cost
